Car rams against culvert, 4 injured

VASCO, APRIL 22 Three retired doctors from National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) and a taxi driver were injured, when the car in which they were travelling rammed against a roadside culvert wall along NH-17A near St Jacinto Island, Chicalim, on Thursday.

Three retired doctors from National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) and a taxi driver were injured, when the car in which they were travelling rammed against a roadside culvert wall along NH-17A near St Jacinto Island, Chicalim, on Thursday.
According to sources in Verna police, Dr B N Desai (77), Keshav Das (64) and V Josendo (61), who have retired from service, sustained injuries. Taxi driver one Xavier also sustained injuries. The impact of the accident was such that the car flung into roadside gutter.
The tourist taxi car, Toyota Innova (GA-01-T-6914) was proceeding towards Dabolim airport to leave the passengers.
According to eye witness, the speeding car on reaching near narrow St Jacinto junction to avoid collision with another car coming from the opposite direction rammed against roadside culvert wall and flung into the gutter.
Locals rushed to the aid of victims and removed them from the ill-fated car and shifted them to the hospital in 108 ambulance.
According to Verna police, all three injured doctors who escaped with minor injuries were discharged from the hospital, the driver was also discharged after administering medical aid.
