PANJIM: In an appeal issued to the ‘pastoral clergy, women and men religious and lay faithful’ in the State, Fr Maverick Fernandes, director of Caritas Goa has asked for assistance for the formation of COVID Care Teams (CCTs) in parishes of Goa as part of their endeavour to help the needy in this difficult time.
In his letter, Fr Maverick made references to how lethal the second COVID wave has been and also the appeals that have been made by Pope Francis and the Archbishop of Goa and Daman, Most Rev Filipe Neri Ferrao.
He also acknowledged the efforts made during the first wave of the pandemic.
“You will agree that, perhaps more than before, we need to organise ourselves collectively and provide assistance to our people who are generally in a state of fear and panic,” said Fr Maverick, while listing out a proposed action plan.
“Build up a CCT of volunteers in your parish/chaplaincy, comprising selected members from your Parish Pastoral Council, Youth, other Lay Associations as well as Men and Women Religious. The Diocesan Team can guide on how to set up the CCTs,” he added.
