MARGAO: The Carmona Panchayat with the help of its newly constituted ‘flying squad’ fined another offender, having business in Cavelossim, for dumping mixed rotten wet garbage at Gavona main road. The squad has managed to clear the garbage off the roadsides and fined two persons of Rs 5,000 each since its inception.
Police were called at the site and the offender was tracked through an e-ticket. Members of the squad swooped down at his business premises in Cavelossim and forced him to pay a fine of Rs 5,000.
Many non-Goans operate businesses in Cavelossim. This is the second instance wherein Carmona Panchayat imposed the fine on Kashmiris having business in Cavelossim caught dumping garbage in Carmona.
The entire stretch of the road from Jangod to Dr Hugo Clinic in George Vaddo has been cleared of bushes and shrubs for clear visibility. The panchayat has taken up the radical measures to let people know that they are very serious about offenders.
“Our vigilantes will track offenders day or at night time in Cavelossim,” Sarpanch Allwyn George said.
