MARGAO: Making its earlier interim order absolute with regard to the recreational facility at Carmona, the Bombay High Court directed the panchayat to keep the park open for the public at least from 6 am to 10 pm every day. The court passed an interim order on the matter on August 23.
“The Panchayat should also ensure that the community toilets are cleaned and that there is sufficient water supply and electricity supply therein. The Panchayat and the State Government should also discuss the issue of appointment of a suitable caretaker/watchman and take necessary action in that regard. The State, through its local police, has already commenced beat rounds. This is appreciated, and we hope it will continue till found necessary,” the order stated.
Reacting to the order, petitioner Allwyn Jorge said that the judgement is a clear liberation of his village from the constant vindictive politics played by the Medical Officer of the Chinchinim Primary Health Centre.
