MARGAO: Following the secretary’s report Block Development Officer Salcete has initiated disqualification proceedings against Carmona Sarpanch Savita Mascarenhas for not attending four panchayat body meetings.
It may be recalled that Savita had gone on leave in March and subsequently extended her leave till end of August. However, the panchayat body rejected her application for extension of leave and she was accordingly informed about.
However, despite that she did not attend the panchayat body meetings. In fact Carmona panchayat did not even convene the gram sabha in the month of April.
As the secretary has submitted a report to the BDO that the Sarpanch has not been attending panchayat meetings, “We have initiated proceedings against Savita Mascarenhas to disqualify her as a member of the panchayat,” said BDO Amitesh Shirvoikar.
