MARGAO: In a Special ceremony arranged by Goa Trinamool Congress (TMC) at his residence, Carmona Sarpanch Allwyn Jorge joined the party in the presence of TMC Rajya Sabha MP from West Bengal Derek O’Brien and 200 people of his village and Benaulim Constituency. The function which was originally scheduled at 5 pm got delayed by over 2 hours due to late arrival of O’Brien however, 150 people stayed put at the venue to witness Jorge officially joining the party.
Allwyn said that every aspiring candidate at the Assembly election should come up doing work at the panchayat level in the village to demonstrate one’s abilities. He claimed he had approached many political parties but no one showed any interest but TMC recognised his abilities and talents a chose to organize the joining event at his home.
He said he chose to join TMC mainly to make his vision of women empowerment in which he makes a serious effort through the Self Help Groups a reality and sees Mamata Banerjee as his inspiration in this direction with a charisma of Jhansi ki Rani..He further said he wishes to take his example of village governance to the next Assembly level.
