Carmona settles for VP3

The village Panchayat of Carmona has settled for VP3 status.
At a joint meeting with the Regional Plan Committee, villagers decided to opt for VP3 status for their village.
During the meeting the RP questionnaires received from the villagers were analysed and discussed. Most of the applicants suggested for the VP3 status, laying stress to maintain greenery, environment and ecological balances for better living. Suggestions were mooted to implement measures such as water harvesting, repairs and maintenance of bunds of River Sal and encouragement of agriculture.
The villagers pointed out that Zalor Beach is an integral part of VP Carmona as the Western boundaries of Carmona as per Government notifications is the Arabian Sea and therefore the issue should be accordingly addressed and shown in the village Regional Plan and also addressed through legal remedies.
The committee also identified hundreds of cases of ESG-I and ESG-II wrongly shown as settlement in the draft map circulated by the government and decided that the same should be revoked from the settlement zone to the original use. The villagers through their personal contacts managed to obtain the base maps in the scale of 1:1000 from private sources at high costs and are now in the process of preparing the village plan map through colours.
A resolution was adopted to write to the Town and Country Planning Department to inform that the Regional Plan of the village is already finalised by the committee amidst absence of base data maps not supplied by the government till date inspite of repeated requests and that the committee now requires a few more days to present a detailed plan and summary of data received from the villagers.
It may be recalled that recently the VP Carmona at a press conference addressed in the Panchayat Office warned the Chief Town Planner that any plan adopted by the Government for VP Carmona without the village representation in the absence of basic date would not be binding on the villagers.
