MARGAO: The Carmona panchayat has now appealed to the chief minister to expedite the work of appointing a full time medical officer for the Rural Medical Dispensary in their village.
On September 29, Sarpanch Winston Dias wrote a letter to the chief minister pointing out that the Director of Health Services has referred the matter to the Under Secretary Health and hence appealed to him to prevail upon the under secretary to expedite the matter.
It may be recalled that the panchayat had vide a letter dated August 27, 2017 addressed to the Director of Health Services pointed out that the villagers have been suffering, because the rural medical dispensary is without a medical officer since the last two years.
The sarpanch pointed out that a medical officer of Chinchinim Health Centre visits the dispensary only twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays and that too only from 2 pm to 4 pm and asked the Director to appoint a full time medical officer.
The Health Services, in turn, referred the matter to the under secretary, health, where the matter is now pending.
Meanwhile, local panch Allwyn Jorge met the Town and Country Planning Minister seeking his intervention with the government on behalf of the villagers and get them a fulltime doctor at the Rural Medical Dispensary.
