Carnival float parade rocks Curchorem

CURCHOREM: Hundreds of revellers thronged Curchorem to catch a glimpse of the Carnival floats parade, which commenced from near the Curchorem Railway station and culminated at Kadamba bus stand after proceeding through Curchorem market on Monday evening.

The float parade, which was organized by Centro Social Anjo Custodio (CSAC) in association with Department of Tourism and Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC), was flagged off by CCMC Chief Officer Ajay Gaude in the presence of well known singer and film actress Ester Noronha, Chairperson Balkrishna (Pinty) Hodarkar, Councillors, panch members CSAC President Christopher Bannet.

The role of King Momo and Queen was played by Leslie Pereira and Mrs Pereira respectively. More than 30 professional floats besides local floats participated in the parade. ‘Blacksmith’ by Quepem group, “Amche Tevoi” of Casa de Rumba and ‘Goenche Kumbhar’ by Stars of Ponda  were the centre of attraction. Other floats depicted Goan tradition and conveyed various public interest messages.  There were floats in the traditional, club/institution, family, clown/joker and fun/junk car rally categories. A Konkani musical show ‘Goenchim Noketram’ was staged later at KTC bus stand.
