Tourism Department has released the dates for the festival which will be held between February 25 and 28 with float parades, live song, music and dance events.
“Goa Tourism is trying to promote the traditional essence displayed through the float parades, performances and activities, and also improve the quality and standard of the Carnaval float parade,” Director Sanjeev Gauns Dessai said. With the festival coinciding with the Assembly elections, it is likely that floats may have a poll theme.
The main float parade in the State capital will be held on February 25, followed by float parades in Margao on February 26, Vasco on February 27 and Mapusa on February 28.
Gauns said King Momo, who declares the Carnival open, will be chosen shortly. “We expect increase in the tourist footfalls this year too,” he added.
