Case against 3 forest officials for assaulting accused

Valpoi police on Wednesday registered a case against three forest officials for allegedly brutally assaulting an accused in the tiger killing case.
It may be recalled that on May 26, one Suryakant G Majik in a complaint told Valpoi police that he was brutally assaulted by the three forest officials.
Majik further stated that he was assaulted by the trio on May 21 and 22 during the course of interrogation. He received severe injuries on his back.
Later, Valpoi police sent Majik for medical examination at GMC Hospital in Bambolim. Acting on the report, which confirmed Majik received fracture to his back, Valpoi police registered the case against the three forest officers under Sections 342, 325 r/w 34 IPC. PSI Chandrakant L Patil is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Shivram Vaigankar.
