PORVORIM: 86 cases including one involving the former public works department Minister and current NCP legislator Churchill Alemao is pending with vigilance department since 2015 involving various government officers and public functionaries.
In a reply tabled on the Floor of the House, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that 86 numbers of Vigilance cases are pending i.e. 23 cases in Anti Corruption Branch and 63 cases in General Vigilance Section.
Parrikar was replying to the two different questions tabled by BJP MLA Rajesh Patnekar and Congress MLA Diagmber Kamat. In one of the most highlighted case, the Vigilance department is investigating allegations against former PWD minister Churchill Alemao and then officials of his department for criminal misconduct in procuring the Water Storage Tank thereby caused loss to the government exchequer.
Former Information Technology minister Dayanand Narvekar is also being investigated for irregularities in respect of expenditure incurred on process of setting up of IT Park at Succoro.
Then IT Secretary Rajendra Pal and then Joint Secretary (Budget) S Shabhogue are also investigated by the vigilance department along with Narvekar in the complaint filed in the year 2016, reads the reply.
Amongst other cases, the department is also investigating case against former bureaucrat and current Goa Convenor of Aam Admi Party Elvis Gomes for dropping the acquisition proceedings of land admeasuring 30256 square metre in Margao. Gomes was then Managing Director of Goa Housing Board when alleged incident happened. The case against him was registered in the year 2016.
Case against former Goa DIG Vimal Gupta is also been investigated under anti corruption act for accepting and demanding bribery for closing departmental inquiry. Former Additional Collector Sabaji Shetye, who was caught red-handed while accepting bribe, is also been investigated.
Vigilance department is also investigating the case against field manager of Goa Industrial Development Corporation Ghanashyam Malvankar for accepting bribe of Rs one lakh. Malvankar is a brother in law of then chief minister Laxmikant Parsekar. Malvankar was booked along with Ajit Gawanekar, assistant field officer at GSIDC.
