PANJIM: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Thursday said that the rape accusations against MLA Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate are of a “very serious nature” and the genuineness of the case needs to be investigated.
“The charges against him (Monserrate) are of a very serious nature. I feel police need to figure out the genuineness of the case,” Parsekar told a section of media.
Refusing to comment further, the Chief Minister said, “Let the investigation get completed and police come to a conclusion. The investigations are still on”.
Parsekar, Thursday evening held an emergency meeting with Crime Branch SP Kartik Kashyap and Investigating Officer Sudiksha Naik for updates on the case. Parsekar, also the Home Minister, has sought daily updates from police.
