PANJIM: The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) registered a case over the illegal appointments of assistant motor vehicle inspectors (AMVIs).
Officials seized 30 files and other related documents pertaining to this case from the Transport Dept.
The complaint under various sections of IPC and Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the members of the Scrutiny Committee, members of the Departmental Selection Committee of the Directorate of Transport and 29 candidates selected for the post in the Directorate of Transport.
According to the complaint, some candidates produced fake experience certificates while some did not fulfil the qualification and experience required for the post.
“The members of the Departmental Selection Committee and the Scrutiny Committee abused their official position as public servants and caused undue advantage to the selected candidates,” a press note reads.
This is the second case registered in connection with recruitment to the AMVI post. The earlier case was registered against AMVI Oden Champ Da Costa who has been terminated from the service for allegedly committing illegality for securing employment.
