Case transferred to CID

PANJIM, APRIL 19 The rape case of the 25-year-old Australian woman in Canacona has been transferred to the CID Crime Branch for further investigation, even as the Nigerian national Obi Okaroafor accused in the incident has been arrested and the medical reports are awaited.

The rape case of the 25-year-old Australian woman in Canacona has been transferred to the CID Crime Branch for further investigation, even as the Nigerian national Obi Okaroafor accused in the incident has been arrested and the medical reports are awaited.
South Goa Superintendent of Police Allen De Sa was quoted as saying by a news agency, “She said she was under the influence of alcohol… she confirmed she never consented for sex with the accused.”
The victim had befriended the Nigerian and his colleagues before the incident occurred. The late-night partying at a starred hotel where the Nigerians were put up ended in both the victim and the accused landing in the beach hut of the former where the alleged rape took place.
