Catering equipment shop gutted

MAPUSA:  Navdurga trading, a store dealing with all types of catering and hotel equipments, was gutted in fire on Sunday midnight, causing losses worth Rs 5 lakh.

According to information obtained, Porvorim fire station received call at 12.45 am informing about the fire. Immediately a team of Fire personnel headed by Narayan Munji rushed to the spot. Immediately the operation was commenced and after fighting for almost four hours, the team managed to douse off the fire completely.

Since it was a major fire and the shop was completely engulfed in fire, re-enforcement from Pilerne, Mapusa and Fire headquarters was called.

The store is owned by Mulchand Mujavari located in Porvorim market. Cause of fire is suspected to be short circuit. However, the fire station has written to electricity department and Porvorim police to ascertain the exact cause of fire.
