MARGAO: The long pending demand of the villagers of Cavelossim was fulfilled following the opening of the new panchayat ghar. Construction for this building began in 2016.
Cavelossim Sarpanch Dixon Vaz said the new panchayat ghar, which has ample space and facilities spread out well, will be convenient for all the villagers who visit the panchayat for their various administrative related works.
“It is a well contained panchayat ghar, which we hope will be self-sustaining. We also have a big hall on the first floor, which we can earn revenue from also,” said Vaz.
He added that programmes will be held at the panchayat ghar such as those for below poverty line families.
Vaz added that with the completion of the panchayat ghar, another promise to the villagers had been met. Earlier, he said the panchayat had got CCTV surveillance at the Cavelossim-Assolna bridge as well as parking arrangements at the Mobor beach done.
Regarding future initiatives, he said they have received an assurance from the government regarding their request for the starting of electric buses from Margao to Cavelossim, which would help the public.
He added that the other proposals being worked on include a park for jogging, children and senior citizens
