PANJIM: The villagers from Cavrem will hold morcha today (April 18) at the office of the Director of Mines & Geology, in Panjim for allowing illegal transportation of unaccounted ore in the name of transportation of e-auctioned.
Ravindra Velip, who has been leading the agitation against the transportation, has said that ore is currently transported illegally and the mines department is not taking any necessary action.
He said the villagers will also seek answers to the earlier letters submitted at mines department asking to correct the illegalities, loopholes and flaws which are causing theft of the iron ore.
After the morcha, villagers will hold full day dharna at Azad Maidan in protest of the pending demands made by the villagers. The main issue of the villagers is transportation of the ore. Villagers had demanded immediate halt to the transportation of ore which is taking place in the name of e-auctioned ore.
Villagers had demanded the government issue directions to the concerned authorities to immediately register ‘The Sadhana Multipurpose Co-operative Society’ and allow transportation of the legally e-auctioned ore through the society.
Villagers’ demand of proper inquiry into the Sada sub-jail assault on Ravindra Velip and an immediate inquiry into the assault of Cavrem tribal villagers by police when they were in the police custody at Quepem police station are not yet met.
