PANJIM: The Crime Branch, Ribandar has registered a case against Dipak Shah, director and authorised representative of the DCS Solar Energy Limited, Gujarat and Prasad Hinge, assistant vice president of Vascon Engineers Limited, Pune for allegedly cheating the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Department by submitting a fake performance bank guarantee of Rs 16.22 crore.
As per the case details, the DCS Solar Energy Limited had bagged the bid for construction and development of a convention centre at Dona Paula. It then furnished performance bank guarantee of Rs 16.22 crore to the PPP Department. But when it was sent to the ICICI Bank to ascertain the authenticity of the bank guarantee, it turned out to be a fake.
Following this, the PPP Department director and ex-officio joint secretary Suresh Shanbhogue filed a police complaint. The Crime Branch has registered the case against Shah and Hinge under Sections 406, 419, 420, 463, 465, 467, 468, 471 and 474 read with 34 of IPC.
PI Manguesh Valvaikar is conducting investigations. Meanwhile, the PPP department had already terminated the bid by a letter dated January 11, 2022 and forfeited bank guarantee of Rs 50 lakh.
