PANJIM: The crime branch (CB) is likely to move the Special Court on Tuesday seeking permission to issue a non-bailable warrant for arresting former Louis Berger (LB) official James McClung.
LB’s former Asia head failed to respond to CB’s summons that gave him 15-days time, ending on Monday. He is said to be a crucial chain to establish the bribery allegation against two ex-ministers Digambar Kamat and Churchill Alemao, government officials and former officials of the US-based firm among others.
“We have ample evidence against all those involved in the crime but McClung’s deposition is important considering his confession before the US authorities. All legal options will be tried to get him to Goa,” an officer said.
McClung had confessed in New Jersey court about paying huge amount as bribe to a politician and Goa officials to win the JICA project in 2010. Another ex-LB official Richard Hirsch had also pleaded guilty to conspiracy and charges under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
