CB not likely to make Wachasundar approver

PANJIM: While Crime Branch (CB) is contemplating on getting A Wachasundar’s statement recorded before a magistrate to maintain a reliable record of his disclosure about the international bribery scandal, it is not eager to make him a State approver.

“We have all the evidence against Wachasundar, and others connected with the case. If we did not have any material to nail people linked to the scam, then such an option could have been thought of. Wachasundar continues to be an accused so far,” an officer said.
Before arresting him, CB had given Wachasudar the option of disclosing facts under Section 164 of the CrPC, including the alleged involvement of two ex-ministers Digambar Kamat and Churchill Alemao but Wachsundar remained tight-lipped.
“Our team has collected enough proof to book the culprits in the case. Moreover, Wachsundar’s house was raided from where we got crucial leads,” he said.
CB is now confident of building a watertight case against Wachasundar, the two former ministers and others who will face arrest in the near future.
