CB seeks cancellation of RG chief’s anticipatory bail

PANJIM: The Crime Branch (CB) has moved the North Goa Sessions Court seeking cancellation of anticipatory bail granted to Revolutionary Goans’ chief Manoj Parab, one of the accused in the violent protest at the now-scrapped IIT site at Melauli.

Parab along with Rohan Kalangutkar of Revolutionary Goans among others were granted anticipatory bail after they were accused of being a part of the protest at Melauli, wherein several policemen were attacked and injured. While the grounds on which the CB has sought for cancellation of Parab’s anticipatory bail is not known, the court has fixed the matter for hearing on February 5.

It may be recalled that the protest against IIT at Melauli had turned violent after the crowd attacked the police personnel; prompting Goa Police to register attempt to murder case against the rioters. The government had thereafter scrapped the project and the hunt for an alternate site is underway.
