CBI books DRI officer for disproportionate assets

PANJIM: The Anti Corruption Branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Goa has booked a senior intelligence officer of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for allegedly amassing huge wealth disproportionate to his actual sources of income. 

The officer, identified as Rajesh Dabas, has been charged with possessing disproportionate assets which are 109 per cent more than his income, while he was serving as the Superintendent of Customs, Goa and his present posting between April 1, 2004 and September 20, 2020. 

“…intentionally enriched himself illicitly and amassed disproportionate assets, both movable and immovable in his name as well as in the name of his family members to his known sources of income to the tune of Rs 1,56,22,782,” the FIR states. 

The officer, on deputation in Goa, has been booked under Sections 13(2) read with 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Dabas is likely to be interrogated.
