CORTALIM: The CBI Court on Tuesday dismissed anticipatory bail application of former Sancoale sarpanch Ramakant Borkar and Panch S Bingui in a bribery case.
Both the accused were not present in the court when the order was issued.
It may be recalled that the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Vigilance Department had filed an FIR against three accused including Borkar and Bingui after a complaint was made by Narayan D Naik of Sancoale.
Stating that it is high time for the BJP to disassociate itself from Borkar, Naik said the BJP should come out clearly vis-à-vis ties with Borkar.
Naik’s statement assumes significance after his brother and Cortalim Block BJP President Tulshidas D Naik and BJP Block General Secretary Jayant Jadhav openly congratulated Ramakant Borkar after his panel won the sarpanch’s post in August this year.
Meanwhile, ACB sources informed Herald that a manhunt has been launched to nab both the accused.
