CCMC to register strays free of cost

CURCHOREM: Curchorem-Cacora Municipal Council (CCMC) has decided to register stray cattle and dogs within its jurisdiction free of cost.
The municipality has decided to implant the microchip into the animals so that it can identify their owners in case they are impounded.
Speaking to media, Power Minister and local MLA Nilesh Cabral said in Kalay the two lakhs sq mt plot would be used to construct a common pound to impound strays from Curchorem, Sanguem and Sanvordem constituencies.
“I will urge the Directorate of Health Services to allot this project to one party for maintenance and seek the help of Directorate of Animal Husbandry to insert the chip,” informed Cabral.
“Curchorem municipality has been declared ODF based on the community toilets but there are around 155 applications for individual toilets. The council has decided to send the proposal to Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) for approval,” Cabral added.
