CCP Commissioner seeks citizens’ help to make Panjim Asia’s cleanest city

PANJIM: The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Commissioner Clen Madeira on Thursday urged the citizens to extend their co-operation and work closely with the Corporation to make Panjim one of the cleanest cities in Asia.

“I have read that once upon a time Panjim was regarded as the cleanest town in Asia and I am sure if we all work together we can reclaim that same status which we had once upon a time. Not only in Asia, but we should also aspire to be the cleanest town in the world in the category of small town,” Madeira said.

Pointing out that Goa will be hosting the G20 Summit where at least eight high level including two ministerial level meetings will take place, Madeira sought citizens’ help and cooperation in keeping the capital city clean.

The CCP on the occasion of Republic Day felicitated individuals, representatives of housing societies and the commercial establishments who have started 16 ways to segregate garbage, and those who are managing the waste generated within their premises on their own at their level.
