PANJIM: The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has come under severe criticism for issuing show-cause notice to its site supervisors, senior supervisors, and supervisors for allegedly failing in their duties to ensure cleanliness in the Panjim city.
Former City Mayors Surendra Furtado and Uday Madkaikar who are the present Councillors, have hit out at the CCP Commissioner Clen Madeira and CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate questioning them as to why they has failed to issue such show cause notice to the officials of Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited for creating “mess” in the city by digging the roads across the city.
“It was surprising to note that Show Cause Notices were issued to defenceless supervisors and senior supervisors. Instead, notices should have been issued to the concerned Smart City Officials and contractors who have dug the entire Panjim City and turned it into a war zone and filled all the storm water drains with mud. The Mayor is trying to protect them,” Furtado said in a statement issued here.
Uday Madkaikar said that it was wrong on the part of the CCP Commissioner to issue show-cause notice to supervisors of different ranks.
“Commissioner should issue show cause notice to officers of IPSCDL and the contractors who are real culprits. Why blame the supervisors for the mess in Panjim?,” he quipped.
