PANJIM: The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has been carrying out inspections of the Panjim municipal markets to ensure COVID-related safety protocols are implemented strictly.
CCP’s Market Committee chairman Pramay Mainkar said based on the feedback received from the market inspectors regarding their assessment of the market and other factors, a decision will be taken within two or three days with regards to implementing further restrictions if the need arises.
Mainkar said besides checking COVID SOPs such as wearing of masks, social distancing, etc, are being maintained, instructions have been given to look into the crowding at the market and if the shopkeepers have contracted the infection.
He said as of now the customers visiting the market is less but the corporation is monitoring the situation regularly.
He said if need be, CCP will initiate measures which they implemented during the previous wave such as ensuring only a certain number of people visit in the market and by asking some traders such as fish vendors to sit outside the market.
