CCP gets permission to hold float parade on traditional route

PANJIM: North Goa Collector on Thursday granted permission to the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) to organize the annual Carnival float parade on the traditional route along DB Road from Santa Monica Jetty to Kala Academy. 

The directions have also been issued to Traffic Police to grant necessary consent for the event, to be held on Saturday. The traffic police had on Wednesday declined permission to CCP to hold parade along D B Road citing vehicular congestion. 

The permission was granted during a meeting with North Collector Gopal Parsekar, which was attended by Panjim MLA Atanasio Monserrate, City Mayor Uday Madkaikar, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) Dharmesh Angle and Director Tourism Menino D’Souza. 

Speaking to media persons post the meeting, Madkaikar said that the Collector has granted the required NOC for holding the float parade along DB Road and directions have also been issued to traffic police to make necessary arrangements. 

The Corporation will have its own float promoting Goa as wedding destination.
