PANJIM: The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) on Tuesday issued a work stop order-cum-show cause notice to the general manager of ‘Watermark the floating lounge and bar’ for carrying out ‘unauthorised work and damaging the public property’ along the Mandovi river promenade in the capital city.
The CCP Commissioner Clen Madeira in his notice pointed out that the balusters for a length of 1.8-metre along the promenade opposite Manguirish Petrol pump has been broken without any approval/NOC from the Corporation.
The said unauthorised work has been carried out to take access for floating jetty/structure in the Mandovi river and also that they have erected MS vertical pole for displaying advertisement board without any permission and in violation of section 256 of the City of Panaji Corporation Act, 2002 and Rules framed there under.
The Commissioner has directed the general manager of ‘Watermark the floating lounge and bar’ to stop the illegal activities immediately and asked for an explanation as to why an order under section 269 (2) of the City of Panaji Corporation Act, 2002 should not be passed for demolition of illegal structure and why an FIR should not be filed for causing damage to public property.
The general manager of the particular restaurant has been asked to respond to the notice within three days, failing which matter will be taken up for heard and decided ex-parte presuming that he have no say in the matter.
Madeira has also directed the general manager to attend for personal hearing before him on March 9, 2023 with relevant documents/evidence in support of his say.
