CCP Mayor says will look into issue of dripping water from ACs

PANJIM: The volunteers of NGO Goa Civic Action and Network (GOACAN) on Thursday for the second time held an umbrella protest in Panjim in protest against the failure of the CCP to take action against the falling of water from air-conditioners on footpaths.

The GOACAN volunteers with umbrellas stood below the air-conditioners fitted outside the government buildings. On November 11, the volunteers had organised similar protest and had given time to the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) to take action against the government departments responsible for it.

The volunteers complained that the water failing on the footpaths was posing risk to senior citizens and pedestrian walking on it and could fall due to slippery condition of footpaths. Also at few places, the owners and those running commercial establishments have laid pipes on the footpaths to release water but it is also causing  obstacles to the pedestrians.

When contacted, CCP Mayor Rohit Monserrate said that the NGO might have complained to the Commissioner and that he would look into the matter. To a question, he said that the pipes put up on footpaths by some establishments would be removed, for the safety of pedestrians.
