CCP polls: 163 in fray; clear picture today

A total of 163 candidates are in fray for the March 13 elections to the Corporation of the City of Panjim (CCP). A clear and final picture will emerge once scrutiny and withdrawal process is completed.
Monday was the last day to file nominations. The 92 nominations that came to be filed today were mostly repeat ones. All papers will be scrutinized on February 22. The date of withdrawal of nominations is February 23.
Meanwhile, the Nationalist Congress Party has managed to field only eleven candidates as against the fifteen it had declared earlier.
When contacted Adv Avinash Bhonsle said they will support some independent candidates. Wait till the scrutiny of nominations is completed, he stated and added, “We have agreed in principle but will wait till scrutiny is complete.”
