PANJIM: The council meeting of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) to approve the revised Panjim Smart City Proposal (SCP) has been scheduled on Wednesday. The consultant for the Smart City Development Mission – ICLEI South Asia – had submitted the draft SCP to the Corporation last week, for review and approval.
“The meeting on Wednesday will pass the resolution on the modified SCP,” Panjim Mayor Surendra Furtado said.
After failing to get shortlisted in the first phase of 20 smart cities for funding, the city has reworked its proposal, considering the observations made by the Union Ministry for Urban Development.
The draft SCP now focuses on the financial component, with funds coming in under the AMRUT scheme, Public Private Partnership (PPP), Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), apart from the State government share. The city corporation will bear the burden of maintenance of assets created under the mission.
Under the Pan City solution, while retaining the transport system package which includes hop-on-hop-off buses, cycling tracks, pay parking, etc, the consultant in their revised SCP has restricted the services covered under ‘ICT Enabled Municipal Services’ by focusing only on solid waste management.
The revised SCP has attached additional information with regard to ongoing development projects, their date of completion, kind of services, etc.
Following the council resolution, the SCP will be placed before the High Powered Committee headed by the Chief Secretary for approval on March 31. The deadline for SCP submission under the ‘fast-track competition’ is April 15.
