PANJIM: Reacting to the Corporation of the City of Panjim’s proposal to create a food truck zone on the promenade opposite the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), CCP councillors on Thursday said the stretch witnesses traffic congestion during peak hours, and was not suitable for a food cart zone.

“Creating a food truck zone at this location will add to more traffic congestion as visitors will park their vehicles on the road,” said Vasant Aagshikar, Councillor of Ward No. 26.

He added that the proposed food carts will block the view of river Mandovi which according to him has been already blocked due to large number of Casinos floating in the river.

CCP Commissioner Agnelo A.J. Fernandes said it was essential to create a dedicated food truck zone at the location because of rise in inflow of tourists.

The Corporation will meet on July 19 to discuss the matter. The meeting will also dicuss matters like installation of rumblers outside the TB hospital  in St Inez, making the stretch between Inox and the market one-way, and construction of parking lots..
