According to information available, the matter was discussed during the CCP ordinary meeting held last week. It was decided to request either the Goa Engineering College (GEC), Farmagudi or the Government Polytechnic, Panjim to carry out structural audit of the overbridge so as to check its overall health or strength of the structure and to give recommendations.

Based on the technical report, the Corporation will take further action for dismantling the overbridge by following all the necessary formalities and also after clarifying from the CCP legal cell that there is no litigation pending before any court of law.

The CCP sources informed that many citizens have been complaining about the metal overbridge being rusted and its parts falling down on the road endangering the life of public and vehicular traffic.

The bridge was built mostly for the students of Sharada Mandir to cross the busy Miramar-Dona Paula road but for the last few years the bridge is in a state of disuse and almost abandoned as it is hardly used by the students.
