PANJIM: The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) will soon set up 18 bio-methanation treatment plants in the capital to process organic waste in a decentralised manner.
The Corporation will execute the project through a tie-up with Flycatchers Technology LLP for which funding will be through the Finance Commission.
The first bio-digester unit will be installed at the Kadamba Bus Stand whereas the other places include Mala Lake composting sheds, CCP site, Goa Reserve Police at Altinho , Transport Bhavan, Municipal Garage , Cine National Theatre , Rose Garden , NIWS, Jack Sequeira Road, Campal Ground near Sulabh toilet, CCP animal shelter site at St Inez, Police Headquarters and Government Polytechnic Campus.
As per details shared with the media, the project is part of the Innovation Clean Technologies (ICT) programme initiated by the Centre’s Department of Biotechnology (DBT). The bio-methanation system converts organic waste into biogas, which can be utilised for domestic or commercial cooking.
