CCTV footage reveals Mopa deceased visited hotel: Police

During each of his visits, he was accompanied mostly by labourers; Room booked for hours

PERNEM: Pernem Police on Saturday informed that 50-year-old Chandrakant Bandekar, who was found dead at Bhom Mopa, was last seen in a Tuem hotel, based on the CCTV footage.

Sources informed that since the last 8 months Bandekar, Sakral-Torxem resident, was regular customer and used to visit the hotel at least once a week. During each of his visits, he was accompanied mostly by labourers and the room was booked for hours.

On Friday too, Bandekar, who had booked the room, visited the hotel with a male person. He checked into the hotel at around 11 am and left at around 3.30 pm with the same person. During his stay, he purchased three beers and a whisky bottle.

Further at around 4.30 pm, Bandekar was found dead at Bhom Mopa.

According to Pernem Police, when they reached the spot, the deceased was wearing a helmet. Police said at the time of incident, a group of four persons was seen moving at the spot. However, police are clueless as to what led Bandekar to visit Bhom Mopa.

It may be recalled that on Friday, Pernem Police found Bandekar’s body at Bhom Mopa and conducted the panchanama. Bandekar’s body had injuries indicating that he was stabbed multiple times with a sharp weapon resulting in his death.

Police also found the deceased’s scooter at the spot.

Bandekar, who was into sand business at Sankral-Patradevi, is survived by his wife and daughter.

Police teams have been formed to investigate the matter.
