MARGAO: TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai has decided to make compulsory closed circuit television (CCTV) system for residential buildings. He said this after laying the foundation stone for the joggers track in Fatorda.
A day light robbery in Borda has put Fatorda back in the spotlight. Sardesai had promised the people of Fatorda of having a CCTV system all over the constituency to prevent such crimes.
Sardesai said, “We know that the robberies have happened in Borda. I would like to say that once the three Chief Town Planners idea is executed we are planning to make guidelines in the Town Planning Act where in new residential buildings will be mandated to have CCTV systems and this will be a condition while issuing the licence.” He added, “A watchman has to be there along with the CCTV.”
Speaking on the tender of the CCTV for public places in Fatorda, he said, “The tender of CCTV network has been done. We were waiting for the FIFA U-17 World cup to get over as road cutting is involved. Now the road cutting permission has been given and the work may begin in 1 or 2 weeks.”
