PANJIM: Legal Metrology Department on Friday seized non-standard goods worth Rs 64,000 from two different shops in Panjim.
An officer from the department said that the first raid was conducted in a super market in Junta House, Panjim, where 165 packages of soap worth Rs 8000 were seized for having nonstandard size under the standard of Weights and Measures Rules, 1977.
The officer said the second raid was conducted in a shop in St Inez where protein items worth Rs 56,000 were seized for similar offence.
The department also booked a bar and restaurant owner from Panjim for using unverified peg measure and not exhibiting verification certificate in the trading premises.
Legal Metrology Inspector Nitin Purushan appealed to traders to exhibit the verification certificate in the trading premises failing which action as per law will be taken. He said that such drives will be carried out till 100 percent results are achieved.
