VASCO: In order to curb garbage dumping along the road leading to Dabolim airport, especially at key dark areas, Sancoale Panchayat has decided to install CCTV cameras in such places so that they can keep watch on people who make roadsides garbage dumping sites, Sarpanch Ramakant Borkar said.
He was speaking to the media after meeting residents of MES College residential area in Zuarinagar who had made a representation before the Panchayat demanding a solution to illegal garbage dumping close to the College Junction.
“The residents of the area approached us with their concerns over the illegal garbage dumping at the junction which also falls under the flight path and could lead to bird hits,” Borkar said
He added, “Residents are agitated as they have been keeping their area clean but the area still has a garbage menace as people from other areas use MES college junction as a garbage dumping site. We have decided to install CCTVs at the junction besides deploying security personnel for a few weeks to catch those involved.”
