Tripurari Pournima was celebrated with great pomp on Monday at Vithalapur, Sanquelim. Each year Sankhali celebrates Tripurari Poornima Festival on the bank of river Valvonti, as a State Festival. The main feature of the festival was the spectacular State Level Boat Competition that is held at River Valvonti.
The festival also showcases various traditional activities like releasing lamps in the river, the release of ‘Saarangas’- a handcrafted balloon in the sky and ‘Tripurasur-Vadh’, a cultural programme. A miniature boat is set afloat on River Valvanti on the occasion. The festival is celebrated two weeks after Diwali.
