Central forces descend in Margao, Navelim

MARGAO: Para military forces made their presence felt in Margao and Navelim ahead of the April 12 poll as they marched through the streets to instil confidence amongst the voters.

MARGAO: Para military forces made their presence felt in Margao and Navelim ahead of the April 12 poll as they marched through the streets to instil confidence amongst the voters.
South Goa parliamentary constituency has received five companies of central forces, comprising of 500 personnel, which will be deployed across the constituency.
District police chief, Vijai Singh said that para military forces has carried out the march past in the city as part of confidence building measures amongst the voters. “Today, the para military forces have made their presence felt in Margao and Navelim to instil a sense of confidence amongst the voters”, Singh said.
Replying to a question, he said the central forces will be deployed in sensitive and critical polling station areas as a precautionary measure. 
“The election officials and the police have already identified expenditure sensitive, vulnerable and critical polling station across the state. These forces will be deployed in these areas”, he said.
Amongst the vulnerable polling stations in South Goa includes the polling stations in Vasco, Zuari Nagar in Cortalim, besides Moti Dongor and Khareband in Margao Assembly segment.
