MAPUSA: Saligao MLA Jayesh Salgaonkar on Tuesday stated that RurBan scheme, introduced by the BJP government, is about to lapse in next two months.
Under this scheme, the villages are provided with amenities such as health center, library, community hall and more.
“The Union Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Narendra Singh Tomar had sanctioned Rs 100 crore under this scheme. But till now, this Rs 100 crore project file is not processed. When I was the RDA minister, this scheme was allotted to Goa. However, now when we ask the director of RDA about this scheme, he says that the file cannot be traced or gives any other excuse,” Salgaonkar said.
“If this scheme comes to Saligao, then, we will see facelift of the village. We are being told that the government is under financial crisis. However, if funds received from the Center is blocked just because one person will get the credit then people of Saligao will be deprived of one of the best schemes” he added.
“Every BJP ruled State is waiting for this scheme. The Centre has already transferred Rs 35 lakh in treasury of the State government to complete the paper work. There is time period for this scheme within which the scheme has to be implemented. Only two months remain for this scheme to lapse; once this scheme is lapsed then Goa won’t get this scheme again. I will be writing to the chief ministers of Goa and Prime Minister of India that their own scheme is being killed in Goa,” Salgaocar said.
Alleging that since last three months, no development work is taken up in Saligao, he said, few development works were tendered and few were under process of tendering. However, he said, even the approved works are kept pending.
“The Coco beach issue and many other issues were taken up at war footing when I was minister. Certain projects such as the playground for the village — for which land is already acquired — is not yet tendered. This project only has to be tendered and taken forward. It’s my duty to present the ground reality before the CM and it’s his responsibility to do the work rather than keeping the work pending. I have personally met CM and have sought his intervention.”
