Centre agrees to fund break water facility at River Sal

MARGAO: There's a ray of hope that the mouth of River Sal will finally get a break water facility to overcome hostile navigation problems at the river mouth.

MARGAO: There’s a ray of hope that the mouth of River Sal will finally get a break water facility to overcome hostile navigation problems at the river mouth.
During his recent visit to the national capital, Fisheries Minister Avertano Furtado has taken up the project with the Centre, which has agreed to sanction the necessary funds.
Water Resources Minister, Dayanand Mandrekar said the government should take up both the Betul and Chapora river mouth for the break water facility. “This is an important project which should be taken up on a war footing,” he said, while complimenting the Fisheries Minister for pursuing the project with the centre.
Velim MLA Benjamin D’Silva said the break water facility would go a long way in overcoming the navigational problems.
