Centre agrees to the proposal for 24×7 parking of aircrafts at Dabolim airport

PANJIM: The Union government has in principle accepted the State government’s proposal for 24x7 parking of aircrafts at Dabolim airport for which space will be created, Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar said Thursday.

There are certain fights that fly to Mumbai and Bangalore and even Abu Dhabi empty and then have to come back to pick up passengers. This parking facility will save them a lot of money. This proposal is coming up before the Union Cabinet Friday and is likely to be cleared.
Civil Aviation Minister Gajapathy Raju, Tourism Minster Manish Sharma, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, chief of army, naval staff, aviation officers and airport director also discussed parking and overall fees for the airport.
Parulekar, speaking to Herald from Delhi, also said that the Union government has given a positive response to the Goa’s proposal to fund tourism infrastructure.
This may prove to be a boost for Goa tourism that is struggling after cancellation of booking by charters and drop in paying domestic tourists.
