MARGAO: The reply given by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highway (MoRT&H) to Rajya Sabha MP Luizinho Faleiro regarding the national highway expansion passing through the villages of Dramapur, Sarzora and Gudi-Paroda fails to assuage the concerns of the local residents.
“Land Acquisition for development of NH 17/66 from KM 38/000 to 39/500 is approved by MoRT&H. After completion of Land Acquisition, future action for development of the stretch will be taken up based on the traffic levels and availability of resources,” said Union Highway Minister Nitin Gadkari, in his reply to Faleiro in the Rajya Sabha.
Faleiro had asked MoRT&H about the proposed widening of NH 17/66 from Navelim-Dramapur bridge passing through Dramapur village; whether the government is aware of the heavy traffic at the ‘T’ junction connecting the villages of Dramapur, Sarzora and Gudi-Paroda villages in Salcete taluka; and if a proper underpass is planned on the T Junction to avoid fatal accidents
at the ‘T’ junction of Dramapur.
