PANJIM: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) will construct a 5.15-km-long six-lane elevated corridor from Sangolda junction to Majestic Hotel section, Porvorim so as to ease traffic congestion on the National Highway.
In a tweet, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari said, “In Goa, we are developing a 5.15-km-long, six lane elevated corridor including approaches between Sangolda Junction to the Majestic hotel section of NH-66 at a cost of Rs 641.46 crore. This project will resolve the traffic congestion in the section of NH-66 leading up to Panjim city and also channel accessibility to the newly-commissioned Mopa International Airport. The project upon completion is expected to give impetus to tourism and industry in the State,” Gadkari said. Thanking Gadkari, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said, “This elevated corridor shall strengthen the road infrastructure in the State and bring ease to the commuters.”
