Centre to support Goa to be turned into start-ups and innovation hub: Union Min

MoS Rajeev Chandrasekhar says those returning to Goa after losing IT jobs abroad will find work in the country as there is a talent shortage

MARGAO: Union Minister of State (MoS) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the Centre will take all measures to expand economic opportunities in Goa that will help diversify its economy, turn it into a start-ups and innovation hub and also ensure its sustainable development.

He also spoke of expanding skilling opportunities for the young through skill hubs and Atal Tinkering labs, and bringing in more industries to the State. He further pointed out that the IT sector in India, unlike other big nations has not been impacted by Covid-19 pandemic as much and those returning to Goa after losing IT jobs abroad will find work in the country as there is a talent shortage in the country.

Chandrasekhar, who is in charge of BJP’s Lok Sabha preparation for South Goa, was addressing media persons in Margao. He was accompanied by senior BJP leaders including the State President Sadanand Tanavade.

While expressing confidence that BJP would win the South Goa seat based on the public sentiment towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he referred to his interactions with legislators of the BJP, karyakartas and allied parties, and emphasised on the need to connect with the people at the grassroots.

“The neta (leader), zila parishad and panchayat should work together to ensure access to benefits of Central schemes for every beneficiary in South Goa. The mandate for the BJP in 2024 should be more emphatic than 2019,” he said.

We have to work towards saturation of all Centre Government schemes and take the message of ‘Sabka Saath, SabkaVikas’ to each and every Indian,” he added.

Responding to queries from mediapersons, he downplayed concerns that BJP is depending on the recent group of MLAs who defected from the Congress. BJP President Tavanade also added that those who have joined BJP share the vision of the party and the government.

When Chandrasekhar was asked about the opposition in Goa and country, he said BJP is not competing against any other party but is fighting against those whose ideology is to divide the country and halt the country from its economic advancements.
