PANJIM: The cash-strapped State government has asked the Centre to release the Rs 1080 crore of GST compensation due to Goa on an urgent basis.
Speaking to the media after attending the GST council meeting chaired by FM Nirmala Sitharaman, State Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho said the State has sought immediate disbursement of the pending dues.
Godinho said that he would pursue the matter again at the next meeting on Sept 19. “The Centre has given options to State on compensation as the Centre too has been facing funds crunch,” he said.
He said that a total of Rs 1080 cr is pending with the Centre.
