CEO receives over 6000 applications

PANJIM: The Election Commission's move to extend the time to register eligible and first time voters received an overwhelming response with Chief Electoral Office (CEO) receiving over 6000 applications. Some of these applications pertain to corrections in the electoral roll.

PANJIM: The Election Commission’s move to extend the time to register eligible and first time voters received an overwhelming response with Chief Electoral Office (CEO) receiving over 6000 applications. Some of these applications pertain to corrections in the electoral roll. 
The Collector and Returning Officer for the North and South Goa Parliamentary Constituency had organized a special campaign at every Polling Station for the enrollment of left out eligible voters in the photo electoral roll on March 9. If any voter’s name did not figure in the electoral roll, they were asked to make necessary applications to the concerned Block Level Officer (BLO). 
Till date total 6285 applications have been received by CEO that includes 1223 new applications wherein the eligible voter has applied for enrollment. Of these, 644 applications are of male while 579 are of female voters who have completed 18 years and are eligible to vote. 
CEO has received another 4442 applications complaining about non registration and corrections of their names in the electoral roll. Over 100 applications are also received for deletion of names due to death or migration. There are certain applications seeking transfer of their names from one constituency to another. For this, the voters need to provide six-month residence certificate of that particular constituency. 
CEO during summary revision drive undertaken from October 2013 till January 2014, registered over 10 lakh voters, who will cast their votes in the Lok Sabha polls for two parliamentary seats in the north and south districts to be held on April 12. 
Total 10,433,04 voters are registered in the electoral roll released by the government of which 5,20,237 are registered in the north while 5,23,067 in South Goa.
